Recently my best girlfriend & I went out to dinner. Immediately afterward we wandered the aisles of Target-a must stop whenever I’m near-chatting and shopping, when my friend said in a timid voice, “you’re not gonna believe this, but I’m kind of hungry…” In complete seriousness, I grabbed her by the shoulders, looked her straight in the eye, and said, rather forcefully, “I am ALWAYS hungry. You never have to apologize for that with me!” We laughed to calm down the intense “food-crazed Karli” who had taken over me, and continued with our evening.
Bottom line: this is the story of my life. This is me. For as long as I can remember, food has been a huge part of my life. Sometimes the shining star. And although there have been too many times to count where my addiction/love/desire/yearning/cravings have kicked my butt, there have been lots of times recently where I’ve kicked food’s butt right back.
I have more knowledge now {a fact I sometimes despise, as we all know ignorance is bliss}, but I still struggle. And I’ve come to grips that I probably always will. With that said, I’ve also learned a few tricks along the way to help me when I feel like food has gotten the upper hand. Check back all week as I share some of the things that have really worked for me.
